Mary Montgomery, chief operating officer, of the North Bay and District Canadian Mental Health Association, and former city councilor Dave Mendicino, past chairman of community services committee, join Small Town Times editor Dave Dale to talk about addictions, mental health and homelessness issues on Bell Let’s Talk Day.
This clip is about treatment options, including online counseling that proved effective when implemented during COVID, Montgomery says.
Not included in the video, because I neglected to ask, was how long people have to wait for treatment, one of the most important factors. I followed up with the CMHA afterward, below is the respond from the organization:
"Like communities across Ontario, this area is also experiencing a growing demand for mental health and addictions support. The reality is that the needs exceed current capacity.
There is a 3- to 6-month waitlist for residential addiction services offered by CMHA North Bay and District. Waits for mental health services can range from 3-12 months, depending on the program."
