New method
exists to deal with
life’s trauma triggers

Angela Larmer, a registered nurse and registered psychotherapist qualifying, joins the 2NBWL podcast with host Lisa Boivin to talk about overcoming her social anxiety. This is the fourth episode in a four-part series focusing on deep discussions about how people deal with life’s  twists and turns.

Despite being a practicing psychotherapist with The Rooted Heart, Angela still deals with a lot of the same roadblocks many people have when it comes to social interactions. And she describes the benefits of a new therapeutic technique, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which has been proven to help people change how they react to trauma triggers.

  • Angela joins the show 1:40
  • Angela explains the ART technique 12:20

Suicide needs
to be discussed
more openly

Dr. Sachiko Nagasawa, of Bay Psychology, joins Echo Essentials co-hosts Scott Clark and Dave Dale to talk about the various aspects of suicide, from ‘survivor’s guilt’ to trends, contributing causes and strategies that help people manage their emotional health.

The podcast was motivated by recent community losses and precedes the Chat4Chad gala fundraiser Saturday, May 25 (it sold out 400 tickets the same day it launched). Referenced in the discussion is a workbook Dr. Nagasawa pulled together during COVID to assist therapists and their patients face the impacts of isolation, uncertainty, stress and trauma:

Also listen to the To North Bay With Love podcast with Wade Ringler, Chad Ringler’s brother, and Mark Deacon, fundraiser coordinator with a family inspiration to help raise money for existing mental health programs through the North Bay Regional Health Centre:

90th birthday week
starts tomorrow
for Dionne Quints

The 90th birthday of the Dionne Quintuplets is May 28 but the festivities begin Friday when the Dionne Quints Museum opens for the tourist season.

On Saturday, during the day, there is a Bouncy Castle on site for children. And the main fundraiser for the museum is at the Davedi Club. It begins at 6 p.m. with a special collection of museum pieces on display and there are hors d’oeuvres and pizza slices provided with cocktails available.

At 7:30 p.m., the third showing of the Five: The Dionnes Musical takes to the stage, produced and directed by actor Gerry Mendicino. Tickets are $35 (HST included) and include the snacks before the show.

Today’s Zen Suggestion: One of the most important skills to have is being able to adapt to unexpected circumstances. Perhaps greater skills to develop and flex are foresight and planning.
